Kill-A-Watt 2012

Kill-A-Watt congratulates all students who collaboratively saved over 100,000 killowatt hours of electricity during the second year of the competition, saving the University approximately $9,000 in energy costs. Nearly every hall saw reductions in energy use (see below).

Week 1:

As a whole building…Bursley’s energy usage for week 1 is equivalent to: CO2 emissions from 5593 gallons of gasoline.

As a whole building…Markley’s energy usage for week 1 is equivalent to: CO2 emissions from the electricity use of 6.1 homes for one year.

As a whole building…South Quad’s energy usage for week 1 is equivalent to: CO2 emissions from 128 barrels of oil.

As a whole building…West Quad’s energy usage for week 1 is equivalent to: Annual greenhouse gas emissions from 7.2 passenger vehicles.

As a whole building…MoJo’s energy usage for week 1 is equivalent to: CO2 emissions from 2860 propane cylinders used for home barbeque.

As a whole building…North Quad’s energy usage for week 1 is equivalent to: Greenhouse gas emissions avoided by recycling 11.7 tons of waste instead of sending it to the landfill.
