If you are part of ResStaff (student staff of University Housing, including Community Assistants, Resident Advisors, Peer Academic Success Specialists, Diversity Peer Educators, and Diversity Peer Educator Assistants) and are interested in helping with Kill-A-Watt, good news! Here are a few ways you can help. Creating a sense of community among residents is one of our common goals – you can use Kill-A-Watt as a bonding experience for students and together we can make real change on campus.
Publicize: We have prepared publicity materials for you to post in your halls, including pre-packaged bulletin boards, door decorations, magnets, and energy-saving tips. Please contact us at [email protected] if you would like these materials. They will also be distributed at our events. Promote KAW on your Facebook page with these covers and make sure to Like us!
Hold an event in your hall: See our competition page under Enthusiasm Points for ideas. In order to earn points, a Kill-A-Watt planning team member must be notified of the event beforehand (so we can join in!) and there must be a sign-in sheet of participants.
Encourage energy-saving habits: Educate yourself on ways to save energy and pass this knowledge on to residents. More than facts, though, is the power of leading by example. Try out a few basics and see which ones you like! You can also coordinate with Planet Blue Student Leaders in your hall who are already there to help.
